About IIT Ropar:<\/span><\/h3>
IIT Ropar is located in the\u00a0district Rupnagar, the city formerly known as\u00a0Ropar, which possesses great historical\u00a0importance. The excavations carried out at\u00a0Rupnagar have proved that this town was a seat\u00a0of well-developed Indus Valley Civilization.\u00a0The city dates back to Harrappa \u2013 Mohanjodharo\u00a0civilization located east of Satluj River. Ropar is\u00a0nested on the foothills of the Shivalik ranges,\u00a0and the institute is very close to Sri Anandpur\u00a0Sahib \u2013 the birth place of Sikhism, and several\u00a0scenic hill stations of Himachal Pradesh. There\u00a0are many national institutes and research\u00a0laboratories in the near vicinity of IIT Ropar,\u00a0including IISER Mohali, NIPER Mohali,\u00a0PGIMER Chd., CSIR CSIO Chd., TBRL DRDO\u00a0and IMTECH Chd.<\/div>

R<\/span>eaching IIT Ropar (Venue<\/span>)<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>

From Chandigarh Railway Station:<\/strong> You can get a pre-paid taxi which will cost around INR 1500. Also, you can get state or private bus transport from \u2018Sector 43\u2019 bus stand of Chandigarh to the Rupnagar bus stand which will cost around INR 80. Then auto-rickshaw may cost around INR 250 to reach IIT Ropar from Rupnagar bus stand.<\/span><\/h4>

F<\/strong>rom Chandigarh Airport:\u00a0<\/b>You can get a pre-paid taxi which will cost around INR 1500. The taxi can drop you off directly at respective hostel\/Guest-house.
The taxi or auto-rickshaw would have to make an entry at the IIT Main Gate at the Security.
From Rupnagar Railway Station:\u00a0<\/strong> An auto-rickshaw may cost around INR 250 to reach IIT till hostel or Guest-house.<\/p>

Transportation from Rupnagar(RPAR) Railway Station will be arranged for Arriving\/Departure of Trains connecting to Delhi. Himachal Express(14553), Janshatabdi Express(12057).<\/div>
